About this listing

Red Dragon Ribbon BDS Big Ear Trio stacks three traits: red dragon colour across the head and body, ribbon-length pelvic fins and big-ear (dumbo) pectorals. It is a showy combination with lots of fin, and “BDS” is a line code from the listing that is worth confirming before you order.

Choosing Red Dragon Ribbon BDS Big Ear Trio

For experienced keepers who want a showpiece trio and understand ribbon and dumbo breeding. The dragon guppy care and breeding guide explains the pattern and its relatives in more detail.

Breeding notes

Breed dumbo to dumbo to keep the big pectorals; outcrossed fry have normal fins but carry the trait. Ribbon males often cannot mate well because of the elongated gonopodium, so breeders pair ribbon females with normal-finned males from the same line. A trio spreads the male’s attention over two females, which keeps them less stressed and gives more fry early on. More detail in pair vs trio.

Acclimation and quarantine

Float the sealed bag to match temperature, then add tank water to it in small amounts over 30 to 45 minutes before netting the fish across. Quarantine for about two weeks before mixing with existing stock, watching for clamped fins, white spots or refusal to eat. Give them a dark, quiet first night and feed lightly from the second day. Take photos of the unopened bags on delivery; it makes any arrival claim simple.

Day-to-day care

Cycle the aquarium before the fish arrive and keep up a weekly water change; guppies forgive a lot, but not ammonia. Gentle flow matters with dumbos, since the oversized pectorals tire the fish in strong current and attract nippers. The guppy care guide walks through cycling, feeding and water changes step by step. Ribbon fins are long and fine, so avoid sharp decor and boisterous tank mates that may nip the streamers.

Before you order

Check the current listing for price, stock status, photos and the exact composition before you add it to your cart. The product image is a representative AI-generated image, not an exact inventory photograph, so appearance can vary; confirm composition, strain terminology and availability with HiGuppy first. Read the shipping policy and the DOA / live arrival policy before ordering, since these are live fish.
