ACCESSIBILITY AT HIGUPPY
Accessibility at HiGuppy.
We want people to be able to browse live guppies, read care and policy information, complete important store tasks and contact us without unnecessary barriers. Accessibility is ongoing maintenance for us, not a one-time badge or certification.
If a page or checkout step is difficult to use, send us the URL and the task you were trying to complete. You do not need to disclose a disability. Browser, device or assistive-technology details are optional.
OUR APPROACH
Accessibility is part of normal site maintenance.
HiGuppy changes frequently: product listings change, policies are updated, checkout and account tools depend on WooCommerce, and third-party services can change independently. Because of that, accessibility work has to continue as the store changes.
We use WCAG 2.2 Level AA as a reference when reviewing and improving the website. That reference helps organize work around perceivable content, keyboard access, understandable interactions and robust markup. It does not mean that every page, plugin, browser combination or external service has been independently tested or certified.
When we learn about a barrier, we try to reproduce the task, identify whether HiGuppy or a third-party service owns the problem, and make a practical correction or provide another way to complete the task where possible.
Our statement describes the HiGuppy website and the support we can provide. Payment processors, carriers, embedded services and other third-party tools can have accessibility behavior outside our direct control.
WHAT WE WORK ON
Six areas matter most across the shopping and support journey.
These are ongoing priorities rather than a claim that every instance is already perfect.
Structure and navigation
Meaningful headings, descriptive links, page titles and navigation patterns that make the page easier to understand and move through.
Keyboard and focus
Interactive controls that can be reached without relying on a mouse, with a visible focus indicator where the component supports keyboard use.
Readable content
Legible text, sufficient contrast, responsive spacing and layouts that remain usable when the viewport or text size changes.
Images and media
Useful alternative text for meaningful images and less unnecessary announcement or visual noise from decorative elements.
Forms and checkout
Persistent labels, understandable instructions, useful control names and clearer error or status feedback for important order steps.
Dynamic store interactions
Filters, product options, cart updates, menus, overlays and account tools that can be more complex for keyboard and assistive-technology users.
KNOWN LIMITATIONS
Some parts of the experience may still need improvement.
We would rather state these boundaries clearly than imply that the entire website is barrier-free.
Third-party services
Payment providers, carriers, review systems, embedded media and other external tools can introduce behavior that HiGuppy cannot fully control.
Older or imported content
Legacy pages, older product images, documents or supplied descriptions may still need updates to match current content and accessibility practices.
Complex commerce controls
Variation selectors, filters, cart updates, overlays and account tools can behave differently across browsers and assistive technologies.
Changing catalog content
New products and editorial updates can introduce issues after an earlier review. A previous successful check is not a permanent guarantee for future content.
REPORT A BARRIER
Tell us the task that became difficult.
A short report is enough to start. Please do not send passwords, payment card details or unnecessary private information.
- 01
Share the page or step
Include the URL, product name, policy page or checkout step where the problem occurred.
- 02
Describe what happened
Tell us what you expected to do and what made the task difficult, confusing or impossible.
- 03
Add optional technical details
Browser, device and assistive-technology information can help us reproduce a barrier, but you do not have to provide it.
- 04
Tell us what would help
Let us know if plain text, a clearer explanation, email support or another format would make the information or task easier to use.
ALTERNATIVE HELP
If the website gets in the way, ask for the information or task another way.
When practical, we can help clarify a product, policy, shipping step or order-related task by email, or provide the relevant information in a simpler text format. The exact alternative depends on the request and on which system owns the task.
- Ask for a policy or care instruction in plain text.
- Ask us to clarify a product format, price, stock note or shipping requirement.
- Describe a checkout or account barrier before submitting information you cannot verify.
- Request a response method that is easier for you to use where practical.
If a control, price, shipping line or payment step is unclear, stop before submitting information you cannot verify and contact us. We can clarify HiGuppy information, but we cannot ask you to send card details by email.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Accessibility FAQ
Does HiGuppy claim full WCAG compliance?
No. We use WCAG 2.2 Level AA as a reference for improvement, but we do not claim that every page, plugin or third-party component fully conforms or has been independently certified.
Do I need to disclose a disability when reporting a barrier?
No. A page URL, the task you were attempting and a description of what got in the way are enough to start. Device or assistive-technology details are optional.
Can I request information in another format?
Yes. Tell us which page, product, policy or task you need and what type of alternative would be more useful. We will provide a practical alternative where we reasonably can.
What should I include when reporting a barrier?
The page URL, the task you were trying to complete, what happened and your preferred response method are most helpful. Avoid sending passwords, payment card details or unnecessary private information.
What if the problem occurs during checkout?
Stop before submitting information you cannot verify and contact us. We can clarify product, order and shipping information and investigate HiGuppy-controlled interface problems without asking you to email payment card details.
Does this statement cover third-party services?
Only partly. We can report or work around a problem where practical, but external payment, carrier, review or embedded services control their own accessibility implementation.
Tell us what got in the way.
Send the page URL and a short description of the task. We will review the report and, where practical, correct the HiGuppy-controlled barrier or provide the needed information another way.
